Potential from the Beginning Empty Potential from the Beginning

'Good...they aren't looking.

With a innocent smile the little girl with jet black hair and honey colored eyes peeked out her room in the palace of the great Fire Lord. The guards down the hall were so busy with their conversation about a pretty woman they had seen earlier in the day they failed to notice Xira slip out her room and sneak her way down the hall. Once around the corner to a safe spot she giggled, this was just too easy a simply strategy was letting her slip unnoticed around the palace.

Xira wished for a second though Kano had been with her seeing as he was the best with distractions as well. However, he was sound asleep still in her room. Her golden eyes had caught site of a shadow effortlessly making its way down the hall. Looking at the window where a curtain was hanging her finger pointed at it concentrating then smiling widely at it suddenly catching on fire. The guard was so spooked and worried about the palace being set on fire that he ran right past the dark hall Xira was at and went to pat down the curtain. The little girl took this time to run past him, climb out the window and slide down one of the columns to the plush green grass below.

Her ballet shoes crushed the grass as her bottom did the same after losing balance towards the end of her escape. Getting back up as quickly as she could Xira started running full speed towards the lone building that had been strictly off limits. Hearing from the guards a spirit world relic was hidden there she just had to take a look at it. Getting in there was going to be bit tricky though...the doors were locked up by chains and there was a alarm system attached to any one who even touched the chain.

Xira looked around the building and saw a thin column she could use to climb up into the window. untying her sash that was wrapped around her shoulder and tied by her waist the girl gripped one side while tossing it behind the column and her other hand caught it. Using her feet to get a stable climbing footing Xira used her sash to help climb to the window. Xira timed herself then jumped onto the ledge pulling herself up and over and falling down to the bottom. The girl used the same technique to slide down before tying her sash back around her and staring at the relic.

"Wooooaaahhh..."

There it was, a black dragon against the wall as if it was a portal with a red gem in its gaping mouth. The atmosphere around here was a bit eerie but the dragon's eyes looked a bit intimidating as if it was staring into her soul. Out of curiosity Xira sent a small fire ball towards the gem and when it hit the gem she stared waiting to see what was going to happen.

So small she was. The young prodigy, the youthful flame that had yet to reach it's optimal burn.

The Fire Rise's...For this one.

The spirits had such a heavy presence around her. They crawled towards her, they clamored in protest of her potential. The dark spirits wanted to feast on her richness, while the light spirits wanted to bring her to the land of golden temples and white lights.
Both parties were so foolish.
This was not a potential to be taken away, this was not a potential to be extinguished, it was but a door open just a crack. The spirits feared this door swinging open, they all took there slender hands and boney fingers and tried to force it shut.

Yet there efforts paled in comparison to Him...

From what seemed like no where the little girl fell from what looked like the roof and landed down on the dusty ground which kicked up smoke around her feet as she landed. Her bright golden eyes however were geared instantly towards the relic.
The black dragon that remained solid in it's age old glory was clad in a position of greed and it's mouth tightly bit down on the bright gem it had claimed owner ship of.

Her eye's shined in the dimly lit room, however, there was one with eyes that glowed in the darkness.
She bended a small tongue of fire which struck the gem.
It had reminded Him of the one who had taken him in. In fact, that dragon whom she had shot her flame was in fact, his old mentor. The who he had struck down with a tongue of fire after it had passed it's knowledge down unto him.
He saw the building blocks of himself in her, ever since the days of old when humanity began, long before the history books had recorded, back when the very first Avatar had roamed the earth. She was her own person, yet her heart caused reaction from the spirit world. Despite the potential however, the fire was still dim, and only noticed by the lesser spirit.

Yet amongst them all, God had noticed her on this day. He was about to grace her with his presence.

"Beautiful isn't it?" A deep, resounding voice suddenly announced from behind the girl. The sound that had came from his throat and was molded into speech was like no other, a man who had lived for thousands of years, a man who was from the spirit world, one who believes he has attainted the mantle of God.

Emerging from the darkness of the corners of the old building, seemingly coming from no where as he stepped out into the light. As he walked out, his purple eye's glowed in the dark until they were met by the light that squeezed through an old window.
His eye's turned to the black dragon for a moment, yet only for a moment as the relic bared meaning to him.
"You know this dragon you see before you?" He inquired, his finger pointing to it.
"I met that dragon you know. Have you ever seen a dragon before?" He asked her as he got down on one knee, his slightly glowing purple eye's meeting her bright golden ones.

The stance of the little girl had changed immensely from a calm posture to one of offense. The deep voice that had registered in her ears caused her to turn to the source. It was pitch black however from where the voice was coming from. This voice...it did not belong to one of the guards, nor her parents and the Fire Lord. So who was it? Xira found herself nodding at the question it had asked more so answering straight forward. This black dragon was mystical, and her soul felt as if its spirit was attempting to lure her in along with its beauty.

Her feet had taken two steps back when this mysterious man emerged from the darkness of the room. This was certainly a face that her mind would never forget as it burned into her memory. Those purple eyes were something she had never seen before along with the bright orange hair. Her people were not associated with those attributes so where exactly was he from?

Not a hint of fear had been plastered on her face seeing as curiosity took hold of that place. Her stance returned to the calm non threatened stance before smiling sweetly up at him. This man seemed so nice to her. When he began talking Xira definitely listened up carefully. Hearing his words her excitement flourished when he had said he even met the dragon.

"You have?! What was he like??" As to his other question the little girl who was as innocent as could be shook her head yes. The Fire Lord always had told her stories about an evil dragon. But then a frown plastered on her face as she had gotten a bit closer to him.

"I have never seen one..I have always wanted to though! Oh!" Xira remembered how her mother scolded her constantly about speaking before introducing herself. Bowing respectfully with her hands tangled with on another in front of her she kept the sweet smile on her face. "My name is Xira, it's spelled with a X but pronounced as a Z..my friends mess it up all the time. Whats your name?"

"Xira..." He repeated back himself taking in the name.
The spirits that surrounded Xira began to grow more infuriated, they wanted to surround her, to gnaw at her soul. Yet His presences kept them back. What interested him was that she did not react to his presence in the same way every one else did, she saw his eye's with there glow, he could tell by how interested she was in them. However she didn't seem to be reacting to slight feeling of nausea and anxiety that came with him being close to others by proximity.
She was unique, and didn't feel his presence in the same way other did. The pressure however was clearly felt by the spirits, although she could not see them, he could see them all, almost all the time. It was why he appeared to be socially odd at times, like a man with autism almost his outlook on the world was far different from anyone else.

"A pleasure to meet you Xira" He responded with a returning bow of his head.
"I am Pain" He told her.
It was odd for him. Speaking to another with respectful and polite. After all his years he has always believed himself to God, hence his tone with other humans. Yet why was he acting like this to this girl?
Believe or not, Pain has honor, his own morals, his ideals don't excel past them, rather they meet with him. He doesn't want to destory everything, he wants people to be survive, just only a handful of those that are worthy. This went for children as well, his history has showed he had no problem killing them.
So why hesitate?

"Dragon are very large and powerful creatures" He told her, answering her previous question while standing back up on his feet.
"Once upon a time, thousands of Dragons existed, all of them living with early human beings....Human beings that were around so long ago that you won't find it anywhere in the history books when they existed" He explained, walking back towards the relic.
"These people were special, they were pure. These were the first people to ever step foot on the Earth, The First Generation
" He placed his hand onto the black dragon relic.

He looked down to Xira, seeing her aura, seeing that potential she carried.
"These people created bending, and it was then, that the very first Avatar ever to be born had roamed the Earth"
Pausing for a moment, his eye's shifted towards the spirits again. They were pushing there face's through the walls, there arms were trying to break through the pressure that Pain's aura held.
His eye's turned back to Xira.
"What if I told you that you were also one of these humans?" He asked her as he looked down. His high collar covering his mouth so only his eye's could be seen.

Potential from the Beginning Empty Re: Potential from the Beginning

Post by Guest Tue Dec 11, 2012 10:50 am

"Why is your name pain? Are you hurt or something?" Childhood innocence showed at its purest form with the latest question the girl had asked. This man who appeared from thin air seemed to need more guidance and help than anything else. Like all kids that were young when befriending an older individual they could see things others could not..like pain or struggle. Maybe if she was to be his friend he'd feel better!

However, her attention was back on him as he stood and started talking about dragons. This man towered over her but a sweet smile stayed on her face as she listened. There was however, a slight flaw in his story though. That was unless it was told differently in the academy. So just to make sure she ran over to him and grabbed the sleeve of his coat while her other hand cautiously touch the Dragon.

"My teacher said that in the very beginning there was nothing but energy bending. Then about the second or third generation started bending elements and the first form of bending was lost forever. It wasn't until avatar Aang when it was obtained again. He is still the only one who was able do it after all these years. He also said that there are two dragons that we know of on this planet. Somewhere in the fire nation. I forget though.

Xira looked over to where he saw looking but saw nothing. Those violet eyes..had they had other powers? Pain probably could see what others could not but she held on tight to him thinking the guards finally realized she had been missing from her room in the Palace. When hearing him say that she was one of those humans Xira's honey colored eyes met up with his glowing purple ones. That's all that was able to be seen besides his hair.

"I am? How?"

Potential from the Beginning Empty Re: Potential from the Beginning

Post by Myindoh Thu Dec 13, 2012 3:00 am

(OOC: Sorry, after writing up the whole post only to lose it this was the best I could come up with. The one after this will be the regular quality you'd expect)

Everything was going well so far, as Pain could see the spirits being more and more aggressive. They wanted this child, and they didn't want Pain to have her. That was how he knew it was going well.
"Hurt? No, not anymore" He replied simply, stopping himself from going any further. Xira wasn't ready to hear the full reasoning for his name. His ideals, his reasons, they would be too much for her to grasp right now. Pain was his symbol, the center of goal. He wore it like a title. He wasn't going to get into it now though, not with her as she was.
Listening to her as recalled history Pain got down on one knee, his arm resting on his knee that was up. This caused his long sleeve to roll up slightly and reveal his wrist which had several black studs pierced into it.
"Yes very good, the first generation of benders were energy benders. They created bending, elemental bending came from them" He replied, clarifying both his statement and hers.
Pain eye's looked into her's again though as she asked him how she was like the first generation. His eye's, his sense's, he was connected to the spirit world. He could feel her aura and the power emitting from it.
"I've watched your ancestor's since the beginning. In beginning they to were energy benders. I watched as they were born, I watched them grow old and die. Your family all carry a gene within them" He explained to her with such a 'god like' tone as he spoke of how he saw her family since the beginning. In the Spirit World, Pain could see all, he was able to watch the whole world at once with the help of his former mentor. Xira's family was one of many that he had witnessed. Although he couldn't fully explain to her how he was a god of peace. Perhaps her eye's would at least be opened that he was something beyond human.

"For generations this gene has remained dormant. However, it speaks within you, it glows with a whimper. It is begging to be released. With it, you have the potential to be the greatest fire bender that has ever lived" His voice carried such an odd and unique tone as he told her more.
"All you need to do is ask...And I can awaken it. If its alive, you will be given a gift that no other fire bender will have." He said before pausing for a moment to reach his right hand out to her.
"All you need to do..."
The air around his hand began rippled and bend as warm heat waves began to emit from it. This would make his hand feel warm and soft, like a laundry fresh out of the dryer it give such a warming sensation.
"Is take my hand"
He held his hand out to her, waiting for her to decide.

Potential from the Beginning Empty Re: Potential from the Beginning

Post by Guest Thu Dec 13, 2012 11:03 am

This event was starting to feel more like a dream than actual reality. Xira found it hard to grasp what he was saying about living so long and watching her family. Pain looked no where near as old as what was being claimed. Then again what eight year old would understand something as complex as this? Her eyes never looked away from his that had commanded higher power than even the fire lord himself. Xira's childhood innocence allowed for her to trust him and believe that he was a God who had seen much potential in her.

However, when he offered to awake the light inside her the little girl looked down at his hand trying to really decided whether or not shake it. Mom already excepted her for who she was and loved Xira as much as a mother possibly could. The Fire Lord, seeing as this was his God Daughter, loved and care for her as if she was his own. But her father that had been bound by blood with her had a different view of his daughter. The man never spent much time with her and had poured his attention more so in his friends son. The little girl remembered her mother saying to her that he was so excited to have a boy that when he saw her it broke his heart a bit.

....So maybe this gift would finally make him proud of her.

Using a very innocent and sweet logic the golden eyes looked back at his eyes smiling while her black hair bounced a little from her head looking back up at him. Within the next few seconds her hand found refuge inside of the warm hand. It definitely felt like a blanket that had just emerged from out the dryer but it made Xira feel very cozy.

Potential from the Beginning Empty Re: Potential from the Beginning

Post by Myindoh Mon Dec 17, 2012 7:58 am

So small and frail...How was it that such a little thing had such a powerful impact?
It's was Xira that he was thinking about at the moment, but the spirit he was calling. Pain's connection with the spirits allowed him to communicate with them, which could already be shown by making his aura strong enough to ward off all the minor spirits. However, there were those that respected him and didn't just fear him.
Amongst the spirits that clawed at the walls of the abandoned building, there was one very small...Frail looking black worm that swam through the air. It's body waved up and down like a dolphin swimming through the ocean.
It's body was as black as night with blood red eye's. It's body came closer to the building until it's body passed right through the wall. Phasing through all the physical barriers it eventually reached the purple eyed man, and the golden eyed girl.

Appeared behind Pain, it swam closer and closer to him.

As Xira took his hand, Pain lightly grasped onto it, wrapping his warm fingered around her hand completely.

The worm slithered right towards Pain, it's face colliding into his back, then passing through it. It did not come out the other side however. Instead it remained inside of him. Pain's grip on Xira's hand became firm as he felt it enter him.
The worm traveled through his body, going up to his shoulder, going down his arm. It reached his hand that was holding Xira's.
Pain closed his eyes.
"So it has been called" He whispered under his breath.
The worm pushed through Pain's palm and began to burrow it's way into Xira's hand. To her however, there would be no change to her whatsoever.
"So her song shall be" He said while the worm fully dug it's way through and entered her body.
This was her gift. He had named this spirit "Liliana's Song". While no one would be able to hear it, the worm sang a silent song. If one listened closely, they could make out the voice of a woman. This song was a most interesting one. It's voice was not human, yet if one could hear it, it would be as beautiful as ever heard before.
Xira, at this point would hear the very faint sound of a woman singing in her ears. So quiet though it was.
This spirit would grant Xira the ability to bend the hottest fire imaginable. It was fire that was as white as snow. It levels of heat so intense it could burn though almost anything. Not only that, her control over the levels of heat and fire she could use would be extraordinary.
However, Pain was not a man that wished to only bestow gifts. As the Messiah would, he would grant someone a gift, then ask for them to join him in his quest of faith. In this case, the spirit would always remain inside of Xira.
Not her body, but within her soul.
This granted Pain the ability to talk to this spirit, which now knew everything that was going on within her soul. Meaning it would know if she was hurt, if she was sad, or in a battle, or even her thoughts.
The spirit knew the inner working of her soul, which meant that Pain did as well.
Liliana's song however respected Pain very much, meaning that he could control it, and therefore if he decided, he could control her. Not like mind control, but enough to let her know when something she was doing was wrong or right but he couldn't speak to her for whatever reason. If she absolutely resisted, she could break from the control. Doing so however with a spirit within her could prove severe painful on her part, as this spirit was not just a granter of gifts. It was also a giver of curses, something Pain knew very much about.

This was to be his disciple, his student and when she was old enough, his partner.
"Your power has been awakened" He informed her before letting her hand go lightly.
"I want you to remember this moment, so that everytime you use it, you will remember me...I will be watching over you, watching you grow, and I will always be there to keep you safe." Pain told her, looking directly into her eye's in order to seer his gaze and his words into her brain.
His eye's even began to glow a little brighter so as to catch her attention as she saw more of his power.
"When your old enough, I will visit you once more. It is then that you will truly learn your destiny, your purpose. It is then...That you will learn the truth of this world through God's eyes" He got up to his feet after telling her. He would ensure that the spirit within her would remind her of him if she had ever forgotten.
This little girl had time to master her power, and grow. When she was of the right age though, The Second Coming would commence and she would go down the path she was meant to take.
"If you ever need me, if you need to feel my presence. Close your eye's, and pray...You will be answered" He spoke as with such athority. Letting his voice be heard and letting her truly feel his aura in a warming and memorable fashion.

It was after those words that he would turn around, and walk back into the darkness, only to fade from sight once being immersed in shadow. If she followed him to attempt to see or touch him in the dark, she would see nothing but the walls ahead, and feel nothing but the air.

Potential from the Beginning Empty Re: Potential from the Beginning

Post by Guest Mon Dec 17, 2012 10:57 am

As soon as Pain disappeared the little girl had no time to chase after him. Behind her the sound of the lock could be heard breaking as the doors flew open. Xira shielded her eyes when the bright light quickly invaded the dimly lit room. After getting adjusted to the new light her arm slowly lowered only to see the Fire Lord rushing in and kneeling down to check on her along with her mother.

"Xira!! Are you alirght?!"

Xira looked from her mother to her mothers best friend, he cared for her as if he was her father. "Mommy I'm fine! I wanted to see what was in here, it's gem is so pretty!"

The Fire Lord looked at his God daughter then at the relic, "Yes, yes it is..lets get you cleaned up so you can show us what you've been working so hard on."

Just then a small little lizard ran inside the room past the guards and adults jumping straight into his friends arms. Xira laughed and hugged Kano tightly as his small slick tongue licked her face once while his tail was thrashing about. Her mother and the Fire Lord moved seeing as every knew all too well the pain of the wild tail.

As they all left the room walking down the walkway Xira turned her head back to look at the gate that was being closed. If she did not know any better the Dragon's eyes flashed a bit as if it was showing her it was still aware.

About two hours had passed and the little girl was finally able to show her father, along with her godfather and mother what she had worked so hard on. Her parents were standing by the door of the throne room which was closed while the lord himself was at his usual throne. The sounds of the fire rushed into her ear but despite that loud noise a faint sound of a woman singing cradled her nerves.

Xira did not know this song, or the woman's voice but it felt as if it was coming inside. Fully relaxed the innocent girl pulled a lock of hair out of the bun her mother had fixed to cover one of her honey colored eyes. Then fixing the crest that held the bun together Xira began her dance.

Each step was placed carefully as the fire seemed to release from her fist and feet effortlessly. It was her best fire dance performance yet. That was until one of his advisers rudely rushed in,

"My lord there has been word that the man who burned down the old district is in custody!"

Xira stopped abruptly having an annoyed look on her face as well as everyone else in the room. With a growl the fire behind the King rose violently as his voice filled the room.

"Did you not see that my door was closed!!! When it is closed when I have people in here you are not to enter!!! You ARE TO WAIT!" As the adviser jumped and bowed repeatedly apologizing to him, Xira and her parents he quickly coward into the darkness of the room once the flames settled back down.

As if nothing happened Xira locked eyes with her godfather and he nodded smiling her way. Still annoyed she began to continue her dance though something very odd began showing.

Her flames glowed from a normal red to radiant vibrant colors, blue had been seen, along with green, yellow, and purple..the only one missing was the color white. The very end Xira stomped her foot on the ground raising her hands above her head as a small wall of bright blue and green flames lit up the room.

Astound by what he had just witnessed the fire lord looked from her parents who were looking just as dumbfounded to the little girl before him who looked a bit confused at first but more than happy at how it ended. Even she thought it was beautiful despite being interrupted.

"When...when did you learn to do that?..there has never been a soul in the fire nation that could do that and yet a little 8 year old girl could do it with such ease.."

Xira simply smiled as a giggle filled the room this was truly the beginning of something amazing...
