The Mess Hall Empty The Mess Hall

Post by Dachou Sun Mar 10, 2013 4:51 pm

As Dachou sat on his bed, the thoughts began to arise. When would he come out, if ever? He really couldn't stay. He wouldn't stay. He wasn't cut out for this kind of life. Life as a criminal wasn't his way. Well, it kind of was, but at the same time, it wasn't. What has Dachou ever done to deserve to be held in this sort of captivity? He didn't think he had done anything.

The firebender rested his elbows on his knees, his forehead pressing against the palms of his hands. He couldn't be in this sort of mess. Not only was he in the deepest shit he's ever been in, but this was probably hurting his grandmother more than himself. What was she going through at this moment? Did she even know where he was? What would she say right now if she were here?

Dachou and his grandmother were never close, and their bond was basically nonexistent, but Dachou still looked out for her, mostly because she was the only family he had left. He didn't want to get rid of that. He didn't even know what happened to his parents. They kind of just.. disappeared. He took a deep breath, his breathing ragged and uneven. He really wasn't cut out for this.

"Lunchtime!!!"

Dachou jumped at the blaring voice coming from God knows where. He looked up as the guard kicked open his door. He sighed, contemplating whether he should actually eat anything. What good would it bring, even nourishing yourself when it brought no good? He wouldn't need the nutrients in this place. It was a hell. But, he needed to get out, so he would. Dachou clung to his knees, his knuckles turning white. The pain everything so far had brought him was horrifying. He pulled himself to his feet. As he stood tall, he swayed a bit, the sudden standing causing his vision to blur. He just surfaced with a mini heart-attack.

Darkness was not Dachous ally.

He shuffled to the doorway, and clasped his bangs in his right fist as he held onto the frame of the doorway. There were quite a few prisoners. This many lethal felons in one area wasn't good. The Firebender ran his hand through his hair, sighing. He began to walk with the crowd. His cell was all the way in the back corner. It was dark, dirty, forgotten. He was all the way in the back of the swarm of prisoners as they all made their way to the Mess Halls.

The Halls were divided into two sections. One was for ages 40 and under, the other was for ages 41 and above. Dachous eyes surveyed the crowds, picking at each individuals face, registering their emotions, their physical features, everything he could tell about them. Once did his mind float to the thought of Naraca, but he dismissed it. The man had gotten him into this mess, yes, but he had no use anymore. Dachou didn't need him for anything. Dachou didn't work well with others.

The Mess Hall Empty Re: The Mess Hall

Post by Naraca Mon Mar 11, 2013 9:41 pm

[Only admins are allowed to see this link] he was able to walk out of the cell with out shackles or chains around him. Outside he felt an odd discomfort of having only his left arm being mobile. One look at these prisoners though and he knew he didn't have to worry about it. Some were bigger then others, some were smaller, but none compared to Naraca. Natives to the Fire Nation typically didn't have big body's, some were bigger then others, however they stood out more with there pale skin and attractive faces. Fire Nation citizens typically looked toned rather then huge.
Earth benders were multicultural, but generally are known to have dark or tanned skin and big frames were tougher looking faces. It was no doubt that Naraca stood out from the crowd, a big man with tanned skin standing amongst smaller pale men would cause him to cause some eye's to turn. That's not to mention what he did just an hour ago with Coto.

Naraca fell in line and walked towards the Mess Hall. As he did he didn't study these men for how useful they were, in time he would but not at first. Instead he looked at there faces, there body language, there eye's when he had the chance.
Some seemed accustomed to this place, some appeared like killers, burglars, vandals, terrorists.
However, this was a rather small percentage.
What surprised Naraca were the frowns, the eye's looking to the ground, the slump in there shoulders as they walked like zombies.
This place was no doubt hard to live in and he couldn't blame them. However in prison you'd be likely to get your ass kicked for showing that kinda weakness, or killed right on the spot. Why were they all appearing so depressed? Walking through the larges halls, Naraca had to take a better look at them as they were close to the mess hall.

He observed there bodies.
Where were the scars? The tattoos? The signs of battle? The muscles? Only so many had these features and it was not a huge number. Why? Why was there so much innocence?

Before he knew it, he found himself walking through the opens doors that lead to a large room that had several rows of long tables with chairs all side by side on each side of the tables. The chairs were attached to the tables, likely to prevent from rioters having a chair war.
Everyone walked right over to the increasing line up of people for trays which would soon have today's lunch on it. Naraca looked around for Dachou a little as he made his way over to the line. Being as tall as he was it didn't take him long to figure out which of the heads was his. The Earth King had to talk to him.
For now though he walked into the line up and it didn't take long for him to get a tray with his left hand.
It wasn't that difficult, he had the food placed on his tray, his hands were big and strong enough to carry it so he didn't worry about control.
He looked for where Dachou would be sitting and he walked over through the other prisoners and down the table to where Dachou would be sitting.

Upon arrival Naraca would place his tray down on the table and sit down across from Dachou so he could face him.
"Hey" Naraca voiced out his simply greeting.
"I gotta talk to ya, you mind?" He asked Dachou after sitting down.

The Mess Hall Empty Re: The Mess Hall

Post by Dachou Tue Mar 12, 2013 10:06 pm

As Dachou entered The Mess Hall, his grimaced at the smell. It smelled about as delightful as the diaper of a baby. He shook his head, his eyes shut as he tried to block out the sudden image of a babies bare butt waving in front of him. He absolutely hated children. Especially the loud ones. Or quiet ones. Or any ones that existed, in all honesty. He wasn't a lovable person.

Dachou stood in the line for his food, his eyes watching the slop that now drenched his thin paper plate. What was this supposed to be again? It looked like a mixture of mashed potatoes, gravy, and death. He stared at it, almost sickeningly, and tightened the grip on his tray, turned around and walking to a random table to sit at. This one wasn't very crowded, so he decided to sit at it. The less people, the better.

Dachou wrenched his plastic fork off the plate, poking at the Mushed Potatoes disgustedly. Was this really fine dining? He decided he might as well try it. He stabbed the fork into it, pulling out a large chunk from the mush, and raised it to his mouth. As he opened his jaw to finally taste the 'delicacy', he was rudely interrupted.

Dachou stared at his forkfull of food, contemplating what Naraca just said. Did he mind if the Earth King talked to him? The Earth King, the most powerful man in the largest Nation in the world. He held the power to command battalions of troops into battle, and held the trust of millions. Would he really mind if he could have just one word?

"Uh, yes."

Dachou replied, his face snapping back to Naraca. He replied rather snarkily, and he dropped the fork with a splat onto the mashed potatoes, grabbing the sides of the tray instead. He pulled himself up, and, holding the tray roughly. He turned around, sitting on the table right behind him, not even giving Naraca another glance. He wasn't going to talk to the man. He had already caused him enough trouble as is.

Dachou hunched over, and began to aggressively eat away at the mashed potatoes. It tasted kind of like his pillow, starchy and disgusting.

The Mess Hall Empty Re: The Mess Hall

Post by Naraca Wed Mar 13, 2013 12:55 am

Naraca's eyes narrowed followed by a slight frown on his face as Dachou replied in a snotty tone then turned the other way. He understood why Dachou responded like that, so he wouldn't blame him for it.
At the same time though, he had to talk to Dachou, still had to apologize for all this. The King wasn't messing around. He took his tray of food in his hand.
He got up off his chair, then lifting his long leg up so his foot planted itself on the table. He lifted himself up so he was standing on the table, appearing like a tower now he walked across the table that creaked rather loudly from taking the extra 500 pounds. He placed his other foot down on the table chair then his other foot to the floor, using it like he would stairs.
He then placed his tray on the table and slid it over so it was close to the seat across from him. Naraca walked up and over the table Dachou was on then placed himself on the chair across from the young fire bender just like they were sitting just a moment ago.

"Listen, I'm sorry about what happened" He told Dachou, doing his best to sound sincere to the boy who currently seemed to hate Naraca.
"You were caught in the wrong place in the wrong time, I'm sorry you got involved. I didn't know a thing about that man that attacked us. It was a surprise for us as well." He explained to Dachou, hoping to reason with him a little.
Naraca wasn't to ask Dachou to work with him, not yet. In order for them to even think about working together they would have to be on good, or at least mutual terms, even if it only meant for the sake of getting out. Either way though, Naraca couldn't bring it up until he first apologized for what happened.

The Mess Hall Empty Re: The Mess Hall

Post by Dachou Mon Mar 18, 2013 9:43 pm

Dachou lifted his spork once again to his mouth, to consume the barely edible substance that he was forced to eat in this jail. But, unfortunately, it was cut short, as a loud stomp was heard behind him. He sat there, frozen, as the eating utensil slipped from his fingers, melding into the mush that was called food. He felt the giant step on something, the slight vibrating was probably from the table. Oh, a creak, he just stepped on the chair. Everyone in the room froze, staring at the extremely ripped man walk over the table as if it was perfectly normal. The guards stood at the doors, shocked, and confused on what to do, so they just let it pass for now. Finally, after a few moments, commotion once again broke out into the crowd.

So this guy was the Earth King, and a little bit of a freak.

He stared at the Earth King, his face emotionless as the man went on with his small talk. The young Firebender sat and listened, his eye registering everything about this man. He seemed to be telling the truth, though Dachou couldn't tell for sure. He seemed just about twice Dachous age, it seemed. So Naraca definitely seen a lot more than Dachou has, so he might also have some experience in lying.

You could never be to sure with political figures, though. Political figures always lied to their people, giving empty promises in return for their votes, their love, their affection. Yet, Dachou had read a bit about this guy. He was an honest man in the eyes of the people. What happened behind the scenes, though, could be an entirely different story, right? That is the circle of life, my friends.

Dachou looked down, slowly, his head slowly nodded. He looked as if he was seriously considering what The King had said to him just now. But what he was doing, that was all Bull.

"Apology not accepted. Carry on with life, won't you?"

He pulled his tray from the table, spinning back around so he faced the table he was sitting at just previously. He took a step, before crouching back down, sitting firmly back into the same exact seat. He wondered how the man would react. He hoped it would be a noteworthy reaction.

The Mess Hall Empty Re: The Mess Hall

Post by Naraca Tue Mar 19, 2013 2:24 am

Did the boy have to be so difficult? Had Naraca done something in the past to him? Perhaps he hated politics or just didn't like the way the King looked? This behavior out of place and didn't seem to hold any reason behind it. Holding ill feelings just to what happened before though was understandable.
Still, Dachou's response however wasn't good. Was Naraca doing this wrong? Maybe Roth woulda been able say this better. Despite that Naraca couldn't help but frown at Dachou's words as he got up. Carry on with life? Where did this guy think they were?

"Carry on with life in prison? Is that what you want?" Naraca asked Dachou as the kid moved back to the first desk they were sitting on.
After saying that Naraca looked down at his food and the mush that it was. He took hold of the spork that was on the tray, took a large amount in the utensil and ate the food with no response to it's questionable taste. Taste was no deterrent for him, he knew that these prisoners were well nourished even if the food wasn't good. The kitchens in prisons didn't always give the best tasting food, but the food was always packed with nutrients. The taste didn't phase him at all as he swallowed the taste of cardboard.
"I don't know about you" He remarked just after swallowing and taking another bite of his food.
"But I'd rather carry on with a life that isn't behind bars" He continued, this time with his cheek full of the bite he took.
He swallowed it down.
"And with better food. Don't you?" He remarked again, motioning his hand to Dachou who now had his back turned to Naraca.

The Mess Hall Empty Re: The Mess Hall

Post by Dachou Sat Mar 23, 2013 11:07 pm

Damn, this guy was persistent. Why couldn't he just leave Dachou be? Dachou rolled his eyes, an annoyance clearly evident in the way he slouched his shoulders and his head rolling back lazily. He spun around on his chair, almost like a little kid, and lolled his head back forward.

"The food I can probably handle. Maybe. But yea, I can live with this life. It is of mine destiny, if you will. Do what you want, just don't include me in it."

Dachou stated it quite simply, quite obviously. He made every word perfect, and his eyes pierced straight into Naracas, cutting deep into the existence of his soul. but, if Naraca were to see Dachous striking golden left eye, he was sure to see that his right eye almost looked like it didn't have any pigment in it whatsoever. And that was partially so. His right iris was a very light grey, almost white, while his pupil was deep, dark, and completely contrasted it. It was almost eerie to look at.

From that Naraca may or may not deduce that Dachou was blind in that eye, but what was really the point was figuring out that Dachou was indeed lying. He had been thinking quite constantly on how to escape this prison, but so far, to no avail. But Dachou was a great liar, so how could Naraca figure out his lies, his thoughts, his mind. That was the only thing that Dachou kept hidden from everyone else. He wanted to keep his intelligence to himself. He didn't want to help anyone, to aid people was not Dachou-like in any way. He was a lone wolf.

The Mess Hall Empty Re: The Mess Hall

Post by Naraca Thu Mar 28, 2013 12:31 am

"Is that so..?" Naraca remarked as had a mouth full of food in his mouth. He swallowed it before looking right back in Dachou's eye's. Kiara was someone that was great at telling how people were feeling, and even what they were thinking sometimes just by watching them. Coto however could see what kinda of person someone was just by looking at them. He couldn't tell how they were feeling, at least beside the obvious body language. Kiara was able to tell how someone felt based on her vast knowledge of human nature and her big heart. Coto could tell what kind of man or women that person was based on his primal instincts and living a life where body language made up almost 80 to 90% percent of all communication.

So when you have Naraca, a man with the heart of an animal, the instincts of both human and beast and knowledge of animal life and human life. You have an interesting hybrid.
So upon Naraca's brown eye's gazing into Dachou's, golden and grey eye's, he now witnessed the man within. With his intuition and instincts he could see the intelligence. The boy was a pick pocket after all wasn't he? Had Naraca been an average citizen, Dachou would have gotten away with the cash. Yet Naraca is far from average.
While he couldn't read minds, he had a feeling this boy was lying about something, if it was about the food or staying in this prison he couldn't tell. He only knew there was a lie buried in there. This was no different from looking into Coto's eye's, it's all any animal needs to make a connection with someone. It is that simple contact with the windows of the soul that any animal can see the soul within.

Naraca was a patient man, he wouldn't push the kid into anything he didn't want.

"Suit yourself kid" He said with a shrug of his shoulders before taking another bite.
"When I get outta here though I won't be coming back for ya" He told him before looking down at his food and breaking eye contact.

The Mess Hall Empty Re: The Mess Hall

Post by Dachou Tue Apr 02, 2013 9:44 pm

"Thank you. I hope you have a marvelous life out of this prison."

Dachou nodded to Naraca, before swiveling back to face the table. He honestly didn't care much for the Earth King. The man was certainly interesting. He was certainly useful. But unless Dachou could think of a plausible escape plan that would ensure the burly mans use, there was no need for him. But despite that, he was useful.

Dachou was an observer. He never really went out to do stuff, and instead, just watched people, watched their actions, their eyes, their emotions. He could tell quite a whole lot about a person just by looking at them. He was a whole lot smarter than the rest of his small town back home. It wasn't his fault they were a bunch of numbskulls moping around. He was probably the only one in their town that actually used the library. The old building was going to collapse because of all the dust it carried.

Dachou had no idea of how naturally intelligent the Earth Kingdom was. But this man didn't just stay in the Earth Kingdom his whole life. He has obviously seen stuff, and been in heaps of battles. It was evident in his battle scared body, and his bulging biceps. The way he moved, the way he perceived things. The way he threw himself out there to comfort that Arctic Wolf with such reckless abandon. But, despite his physical stature, this man was definitely wiser than average. He was Earth King at this young age, and there was an almost elderly sparkle in his eyes whenever he spoke. It was as if speaking to an old man who had seem so much more than you would hope to see.

Dachou began to shovel the food into his mouth, relentlessly, hopelessly. He needed to finish this food and get out. He was suddenly in a hurry to finish his food and get back to his cell. He had thinking to do, and he most certainly couldn't do it in here. This place was just filled with creepy, foul, wicked men. Dachou pushed himself onto his feet, his cheeks still filled with the tasteless crap that was served here.

"Also, don't call me kid. My names Dachou, use it sometime."

Dachou spat, the mush visible between his lips as he began to swallow it. As he spoke those words, his head was turned to Naraca, and his eyes held no sign of any emotion towards the Earth King. Right now, at this moment, he was just another prisoner in the house. Dachou held his tray tightly with one hand, and began to walk away, not paying attention to where he was going, he took a step forward, and his foot locked with another random mans ankle, and their shoulders collided as they both stumbled.

Dachou, luckily, just managed to stay on his feet as he spun around while tripping forward. a little bit of the mush squirted out of his mouth, partially onto his shirt, partially on the floor. The other man has fallen forward, right onto his tailbone.

"Hey! No fighting!"

The guards bellowed from across the room. Dachou ignored them as the room had gone silent. Dachou crouched over the man, sticking his hand out to help him up. He swallowed the food quickly before giving a meek smile.

"Sorry 'bout that, bro. You alright?"

The man looked about 20-some. He had a shaved head, and he was skinny. Not the criminal type, it seemed. Dachou took note of that. The man nodded, and grabbed Dachous wrist as they pulled each other up. Dachou grinned and slapped the man on his shoulder.

"Good man."

Dachou turned back around, and continued to walk to the cafeterias trash bin, and rested his tray on top of it, before he quickly made his way to the front doors where he began to talk to the guard, his voice calm and monotoned, while the guard replied harshly. This went on for a few solid minutes, and after each second, Dachous hand movements became more and more solid and quick, while his voice sounded more and more aggravated. Yet the guard still persisted to decline.

Dachou groaned, and you could see him, obviously frustrated, as he blew air out of his mouth like a little kid, and slunk back to his table, sitting back down in his original seat, paying no attention to the rest of the Mess Hall. He just needed a place to think. Why couldn't the guards understand the thought process, and that it needed some silence to work?

The Mess Hall Empty Re: The Mess Hall

Post by Naraca Sun Apr 07, 2013 11:30 pm

Naraca took another bite of his food as Dachou spoke. Instead of repling though he just listened. The said what he had to say before eating the last of his food and leaving. Naraca looked away from him before finished the last of his food. He then got up, picked up the tray and walked over to the dishwasher where they were taking trays.
A muscular man with tattoo's on his arms and a crew cut haircut noticed Naraca as he was walking over, the man got up and walked quickly to catch up to the Earth king.
"Hey!" The man called out as he nodded his head upwards.
Naraca kept walking but he turned his head to see the man that was following him.
The tattooed man walked closer to he was beside Naraca.
"I saw what you did earlier, your the Earth King aren't you?" He asked as he continued to follow Naraca.
Naraca kept himself aware of the man but he didn't turn his head to make eye contact.
"Does it matter?" He replied in a distant tone.
Arriving at the dishwasher he slipped his tray in with the rest of the dirty trays.
The man's eye's narrowed slightly but he nodded his head.
"Yeah it matter's, you real strong ain't ya? You could break us outta here" He said with some enthusiasm to his voice.
Naraca didn't respond, he turned around and began to walk towards the exit, however the man cut him off by stepping right in front of him, forcing Naraca to stop and look down at this man.
"Listen man, I heard you talkin, your gonna be getting outta here. Your trying to get that kid in with you as well huh?" He said as looked towards Dachou for a moment before looking back at Naraca.
Naraca's eye's narrowed at the man as he wouldn't move.
"You wanna get outta my way?" Naraca told him in a rather intimidating voice.
The tattoed man took a step man with his hands up trying to show he meant no harm.
"Hey man take it easy, how bout I talk to that kid for ya? Here I'll go talk to him" The man said before he turned around and walked to Dachou. Naraca just watched the tattooed man go towards Dachou.
Naraca however just turned towards the exit that had two guards blocking it.

The tattooed man walked up to Dachou who was sitting in his seat.
"Hey man!" The tattooed man said to get Dachou's attention.
"Ya know the Earth King's looking to get outta here, he's real strong so why don't ya join up with us? I got a gang with me willing to back us up if you join in" The man said to Dachou as the muscular man leaned his hand against the table and was looking at Dachou.
